I love to write. I love to travel. I get bored easily and can't seem to finish reading my collection of dusty books. I'm a semi-vegan-vegetarian-pescatarian, but find it extremely difficult to adhere to a "diet" because I love cheese, ice cream, chocolate, raw fish and pork chops. Born and raised on the island of O'ahu, I sometimes crave for rice and stew luau in places that do not and would not make them. After studying in Chicago for my master's degree in journalism, and experiencing one ("warm") winter of 20 degrees, I quickly moved back home where I can now wear shorts and rubber slippers without getting a second glance. I'm married to my best friend and we each belong to a very large tribe of cousins, aunties and uncles who've known us since birth. It's amazing how we all get any work done. In my spare time, unless I'm off attempting to jet-set across the world, you'll find me in a yoga studio, hiking up a steep trail along the Ko'olau Mountains, meal prepping or reading (not).
I was Where Hawaii's editor for nearly five years until October 2017 when I decided to spend more time with family, become a yoga instructor, and fully concentrate on a freelance writing career. Currently I work for Where Hawaii as a freelance writer and sometimes social media "takeover" influencer. For more information, go to my website www.writeonstripes.com.
