Santa Catalina Mountains

Five mountain ranges surround Tucson, but the Santa Catalinas to the north are the most prominent. Hike through Sabino Canyon or Romero Canyon in the foothills of the gorgeous range, or surmount Mount Lemmon—the highest peak of the range at 9,000 feet—via the Catalina Highway, which winds up, down and around the mass roller coaster-style, coming to a halt in the little mountaintop town of Summerhaven.
