Old Tucson Studios

Built in 1939 by Columbia Pictures, more than 300 projects have been filmed at Old Tucson Studios, a.k.a. “Hollywood in the Desert.” In its mid-century heyday, Wild West movies featuring such superstars as Jimmy Stewart, Gene Autry and Ronald Reagan were shot, and today the studio moseys on as a family-friendly fun park with musical entertainment, miniature train rides and stunt shows at high noon. The site perseveres as a movie studio, too—a television pilot recently wrapped shooting.
