Good Food Month 2019
Gourmands can get their fill of fine food in Sydney any time of year, but the annual Good Food Month is when it all comes together. This year marks the 21st year of the city-wide feast-a-thon, with a program that balances calendar favourites—such as the Night Noodle Markets, which will transform Hyde Park into an Asian hawker-style marketplace every night from 11–18 October—against one-off gourmet fantasies. The events will take place at dining institutions around the city, but will reinvent them, as both international chefs and interstate pop-ups take over in the kitchen. At Chippendale’s Automata, for instance, local celebrity chef Peter Gilmore pairs up with Adelaide and Tokyo talent to throw a one-off luxury dinner. Highlights this year include a visit from French legend Alain Passard, who will take over the kitchen at Sydney's Restaurant Hubert, and a visit from Melbourne's queen of vegan comfort food, Shannon Martinez, who will pay visit to the newly opened Mary's Underground.
