Escape From Pompeii–The Untold Roman Rescue

3/31/17 to 8/30/17

“Escape from Pompeii” at the Australian National Maritime Museum reveals the untold story of the dramatic rescue attempt following one of history’s most famous and devastating natural disasters—the eruption of Mt Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii in 79 AD. The exhibition features artefacts, a rostrum from a Roman warship, Roman reliefs, beautiful golden jewellery, tableware and even food items, all remarkably preserved in the ash and debris of Pompeii. Australian National Maritime Museum, 2 Murray Street, Sydney. 9298 3777.
