The 82-hectare gardens, over 150 years old, is the only tropical botanic garden designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stated mission is to "connect people and plants through publications, horticultural and botanical displays educational outreach and events. Wnating to be a national icon, tourist destination and flagship park, the gardens offer a wide range from a Bonsai Garden and Ginger Garden to Palm Valley and a Cool House. Open daily from 5 am-midnight.
