Top Spooks: Don't Miss These Seattle Ghost Tours

Learn about the city's ghostly past on these tours.

Seattle's history is filled with twists, turns and interesting characters. Its seedy past involves plenty of ghost stories, and those looking to learn more about it have options for guided tours around the city, including Seattle's famous underground. Below are four great options for ghost hunting in the Emerald City.

Spooked in Seattle offers a few different tours, all of which tell the stories of the haunted city. Run in association with the Advanced Ghost Hunters of Seattle-Tacoma, guests are presented with evidence collected during paranormal investigations. Get a tour of Pioneer Square while hearing stories of ghosts that haunt the area, visit Seattle’s haunted pubs, including the city's oldest restaurant, head into the city’s underground for a two-hour ghost hunt and more. Not all tours are available year-round. Use your ticket to gain admittance to the company’s Seattle Death Museum and peruse vintage 19th century mourning garb, embalming tools and more. The museum is open to non-ticket holders for a small donation.

Private Eye Tours has both haunted tours and true crime tours—head into Seattle’s neighborhoods to learn about solved and unsolved crimes or explore some of the city’s most haunted areas. Tours include the original Haunted Happenings tour, the Spirits of Seattle tour with tales of ghosts in Capitol Hill and downtown Seattle, true crime tours through Queen Anne and Capitol Hill (which feature stories of Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain) and, the newest tour, Booze, Broads and Jazz, with stories from Prohibition through World War II. These tours are for those 12 and older.

Haunted History Ghost Tours are lead by paranormal, occult studies and Pacific Northwest history experts. Learn about unexplained and mysterious happenings in Pioneer Square—stories come from local residents, visitors and legends, and have been compiled by the tour's investigators and researchers. The 90-minute tours happen no matter the weather, so dress appropriately.

Finally, from the Underground Tour, the Underground Paranormal Experience equips participants with paranormal investigation gear and training before heading into the city's famous underground to find ghosts. The underground, created after the Great Fire of 1889 when the city rebuilt atop itself, is said to be filled with paranormal spirits. On the tour, hear stories of the city, explore underground passageways and see what ghostly activity appears. This tour is recommended for ages 13 and older and a credit card is required as a deposit on the equipment issued for the tour.
