Classic Christmas

A rambunctious stage adaptation of the 1983 film classic, A Christmas Story: The Musical, opening November 30 at 5th Avenue Theatre, is this season’s must-see theater performance. Directed by award-winning playwright Eric Rosen, “A Christmas Story” features songs both witty and touching, along with high energy dance numbers that redefine the rhythm of the holiday. Watch as nine-year-old Ralphie Parker pulls out all the stops in an attempt to obtain the Christmas present of his dreams: An Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle (but will he shoot his eye out?). From vicious bullies and fuzzy bunny pajamas to towering yetis and provocative light fixtures, Ralphie and his friends face obstacle after obstacle in this beloved story of boyhood, Christmas and family. A perfect setting for a heart-warming Christmas performance, the gorgeous interior of the historic 5th Avenue Theatre plays generous host to the high-energy musical, while the soft glow of the city’s twinkling lights set the holiday mood for those headed to the show. November 30-December 19.
