Just north of the downtown business district, Belltown was originally a steep, prohibitive incline called Denny Hill. In the early 20th century, city planners decided to mine and flatten the hill, allowing this neighborhood to grow into its current industrial-chic incarnation. At night, locals and visitors alike converge on the neighborhood’s vibrant restaurants, or check out the music scene at the Crocodile. And during daylight hours, the Olympic Sculpture Park attracts throngs with its modern art and stunning Elliott Bay view.
