For those late-risers in need of a bite, Portage Bay Cafe offers brunch featuring a variety of takes on the eggs Benedict. You can “shop ’til you drop” at University Village—the open-air shopping and dining destination features locally owned boutiques, along with retailers and eateries; or stroll down University Way for a wide variety of shops, including Buffalo Exchange, a recycled clothing store.

If you’re in town near the end of the month, the University of Washington Huskies kick off their 2019-2020 college football season Aug. 31 against the Eastern Washington Eagles. If art is more your thing, the Henry Art Gallery displays a collection of bold art exhibits.
