Ask the Expert: Concierge Teri Ching Talks San Francisco

One of the city's top concierges tells us her top picks for what to do and where to go in San Fran

Planning a trip to San Francisco? Teri Ching, concierge at the Hyatt Regency SFO, has some ideas.

What are your favorite healthy activities to suggest to families?
Stow Lake in the middle of Golden Gate Park is one of my favorites. You can rent a rowboat, paddleboat or bike or just stroll around the lake on foot. After you've worked up an appetite, head over the new cafe at the boathouse for a variety of healthy snacks.

Where is your favorite place to find a moment of Zen in the city?
Definitely on top of Twin Peaks. It’s so serene, and the view is absolutely breathtaking on a clear night with the city lights. It feels like you can see forever.

Where should visitors go for a nourishing meal?
Kokkari by the Embarcadero. My favorite appetizer is the spanakotiropita, filo pies of spinach and feta cheese, and the moussaka, a casserole of spiced lamb, eggplant, potato and yogurt, for the main entree.

What’s a fun fact about San Francisco that you like to share with your guests?
San Francisco has the largest Chinese community outside of China!

What’s your favorite thing to do in the nearby East Bay?
Take in a concert at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. The acoustics are amazing. Top Dog hotdogs is a must go for a yummy after-concert snack.
