These two neighborhoods, separated by Golden Gate Park, boast the Pacific Ocean as their western neighbor. Single-family homes occupied by a very diverse, largely immigrant, population line the streets here. This area is often referred to as San Francisco’s “other Chinatown,” and many other cultures are well represented in the numerous shops and restaurants in these busy neighborhoods. The Richmond is home to the gorgeous and often under-appreciated Lincoln Park, which houses a golf course and the Legion of honor, one of the city’s best art museums; the Sunset has UCSF, the Stonestown Galleria and the San Francisco Zoo.
