Nob Hill

Nob Hill is the top of the line in more ways than one. Once and still inhabited by the city’s wealthiest and most powerful families, the mostly residential neighborhood, which boasts the Grace Cathedral and the Julia Morgan–designed Fairmont Hotel, is also the highest point on the cablecar line (the trolleys cross at Powell and California streets—mind you, there is still more hill to climb from there).
