Probably the most recognizable part of the San Francisco skyline, the pyramid shaped Transamerica Building anchors the city’s Financial District. The business center has diversified in recent years, attracting all kinds of industry, from dot-coms to manufacturing. A sign of the times, the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange building became an upscale gym several years ago. Luckily for all those who work in the area, this district is bordered by the bay, so waterfront lunchtime strolls along the Embarcadero make for a great break from a hard day’s work. The Ferry Building, which was dramatically redone several years ago, houses a world-class gourmet marketplace with some of the area’s finest purveyors, as well as the wildly popular Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings.
