Meet Napa's 100-Point Winemakers

These Winemakers achieved Perfection according to the "Wine Advocate."

In the world of fine wine, perfect marks are awarded only occasionally. And if grapevines could talk, they would say that Mother Nature is unpredictable, uncontrollable and sometimes unforgiving. When all the seasonal variables are just right, very special bottles of wine may attain a full 100 points, but even the most spectacular harvest requires the instinct and meticulous direction of a highly skilled winemaker.

Odette Estate

Odette Estate is on the Silverado Trail, a scenic stretch running through Napa Valley’s historic Stags’ Leap District. Head Winemaker Jeff Owens looks after 45 acres of organically farmed vineyards. His inaugural vintage, 2012 Odette Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, attracted international attention, earning a perfect 100 from acclaimed wine critic Robert Parker. In "The Wine Advocate" he described the wine as "off-the-charts, mind-blowing...everything is beautifully married in one harmonious, glorious wine."

“We’re so grateful and proud,” Owens said, about being the world’s only winemaker to achieve top marks on a first release. “Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this.” Tast- ings available by reservation; of note is the Cabernet Tasting experience, which allows you to taste Odette Estate's most coveted Cabernet Sauvignons. 5998 Silverado Trail, Napa Valley, 707.224.7533

Cliff Lede Vineyards

Just two miles north, at the sustainably farmed and Napa Green-certified Poetry Vineyard, part of Cliff Lede Vineyards, the grapes benefit from gravelly volcanic soil, warm sunshine and evening marine air.

During harvest, the fruit is hand-picked at night and delivered while cool, undergoing a rigorous three-tiered sorting process. Winemaker Christopher Tynan is no stranger to 100-point wines, having produced several. The 2013 Cliff Lede Vineyards Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon is one.

“I am very humbled by the honor and appreciate the recognition of Poetry Vineyards and all of our hard work. Our team is very passionate about growing the best fruit possible, making wines that we enjoy drinking and feel are the best expression of the site,” said Tynan. Visit the craftsman-style Tasting Bar to try current releases from both Cliff Lede Vineyards and FEL Wines daily from 10 am-4 pm; parties of 6-7 require a reservation. 1473 Yountville Cross Road, Yountville, 707.944.8642
