Explore San Francisco's Union Street

Eat, drink and shop on San Francisco's Bustling Union Street

Union Street is San Francisco’s version of vintage Victoriana, and exploring all it has to offer is truly an all-day affair. Luckily, you'll find everything you need here, with a wide variety of specialty shops, restaurants and bars.

Shop

Amazon shopping and big-box stores have their place, but not on Union Street. There’s nowhere better for a collection of small town shops in the big city. For a true luxury experience, go for sustainably produced caviar at The Caviar Company (1954 Union St., 415.300.0299). Pink Bunny (1772 Union St., 415.441.7399) carries the sultriest lingerie for yourself or that special someone, while Kryolan (1864 Union St., 415.863.9236) offers professional-quality cosmetics. For curated must-haves ranging from bags to shoes to notebooks and photo albums, check out Top Drawer (1840 Union St., 415.771.1108). For Canadian and Alaskan Inuit art plus Native American artifacts, visit Images of the North (2036 Union St., 415.673.1273).

Eat

After Union Street's seriously good shopping stokes your appetite, you'll find plenty of delicious options for dining. For a casual and fun Belgian brasserie, head to Belga (2000 Union St., 415.872.7350), which offers Belgian-, French- and German-inspired fare with a California twist. For Peruvian-Japanese fare known as Nikkei, stop by Kaiyō (1838 Union St., 415.525.4804). Perry's (1944 Union St., 415.922.9022) has American comfort like hamburgers and cobb salad in a casual yet upscale setting, and for dessert, Gio Gelati (1998 Union St., 415.867.1306) offers authentic Italian gelato in flavors such as dulce de leche,  toasted almond, pistachio and tiramisu (including dairy-free options), as well as espresso drinks.

Drink

For something lighter than a meal or for a late night out, check out Union Street's variety of drink options. Make sure to hydrate with a bottle of Hint water (2124 Union St., 866.895.4468), which comes in a variety of flavors like blackberry, peach, mango grapefruit and blood orange. Stop in for a craft beer from breweries like Saint Archer, Ballast Point and Deshutes at Hollow Cow (1840 Union St., 415.771.1108). Sip craft cocktails, beer and wine at The Brixton (2140 Union St., 415.409.1114) surrounded by rock and roll memorabilia and catch up on the latest sports in front of one of 26 TVs at Bus Stop (1901 Union St., 415.567.6905). For world-class wine tastings and cheese pairings, or to pick up a bottle to take home, visit West Coast Wine • Cheese (1875 Union St., 415.655.9262).
