Fontana dell'Acqua Paola

Il Fontanone, as it's known to locals, is literally a highlight of the city. Where it rests atop the Janiculum hill, you can see a 180 degree view of the city's rooftops below from the six-columned fountain. While it's a bit of a vertical hike to get to Fontana dell'Acqua Paola, the fountain is a romantic breathe high above the busy city on Via Garibaldi. The fountain's waters used to come straight from Lake Bracciano into the Capital. The water flows from five small alcoves into a vast marble basin.
