In downtown Raleigh, with the Cree Shimmer Wall on the exterior of the Raleigh Convention Center as a backdrop, Red Hat Amphitheater exudes “cool.” Named for the software maker Red Hat, a leading provider of open source solutions that moved downtown, the venue draws an eclectic mix of entertainment. Performances cover genres from bluegrass and R&B to pop, classic and indie rock as well as family shows. Each year, from April through October, the amphitheater, which seats nearly 6,000, offers about 30 events. The amphitheater is within walking distance of restaurants and bars.
