Neuse River Greenway Trail (Courtesy Neuse River Greenway Trail)
Escape to the Neuse River Greenway to ride a bike, walk or roll a stroller on a 27.5-mile paved trail from Falls Lake to the Wake-Johnston county line. As it winds through wetlands, fields and woods, the trail offers the quiet sounds of nature as well as scenic views of the river and forest creatures like deer, turtles, birds and the occasional snake.
This greenway is part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, a long-distance trail that runs across North Carolina from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks. This segment of the trail connects to other interesting places for children, such as Buffaloe Road Aquatic Park, Anderson Point Park and the Milburnie Dam. The greenway also provides opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Visit the website to see a trail map so you can plan your route. The addresses listed on Where Traveler are the closest parking lots on either ends of the trail (Falls Lake and the Wake-Johnston county line.)
