Midtown Park opened in April 2014 on the east side of North Hills’ mixed-use development, which draws shoppers to its varied boutiques and restaurants. The $10.5 million park covers 1 acre and includes a distinctively designed amphitheater that can host up to 10,000 people. The park welcomes visitors for free fitness classes and live music in the spring, summer and fall, including a popular Friday Night Tribute Series. A stretch of lawn leads from Chuy’s—where diners can sit outdoors and enjoy their meal and the live music—to the amphitheater at the other end. Shaped like a shell with a swirling, sculptural look, the amphitheater’s fountain delights children in the summer with water spouts that go off at timed intervals.
