5 Ways to “Wear” Arizona

Clothing and jewelry designers promote the state of Arizona in wearable works that double as clever souvenirs.

Arizona has a way of making people fall in love—not necessarily with each other, but with the desert destination itself. Once you’re smitten, find ways to show it from these independent clothing brands and jewelry boutiques.

1. State Forty Eight: In naming their new shirt line, three gents from Chandler quoted Arizona’s order in achieving statehood. Find men’s tees at Sibley’s West in Chandler and women’s tanks at Clothes Minded in Phoenix.

2. AZ Love: Merchandise at Bunky Boutique in Phoenix comes from a plethora of places, but the most popular items are part of the house’s own AZ Love collection. Arizona’s silhouette is emblazoned on tanks, crew- and V-neck tees, and fitted and snap-back caps.

3. speedySTATES: A Scottsdale-based triathlete dipped into the shirt business because he wanted to wear his home on his chest while off in competitions. Sole Sports carries his flag-festooned shirts.

4. Girly boutiques Alixandra Collections (Phoenix) and Alixandra Blue (Scottsdale) appeal to true insiders—with pendants stamped with Phoenix-area ZIP codes, and wire charms fashioned into the digits of Arizona area codes.

5. Gift, card and novelty emporium frances represents more than a few hometown artists. Some are sassy, some are sincere, and a great lot of them are seriously in love with the Sonoran Desert, as an entire armoire of AZ wear and wares attests.
