The third-largest city in the state is also the 40th-largest in the nation. The downtown area, marketed as “a square mile of unique style,” is bounded by University Drive, Broadway Road, Country Club Drive and Mesa Drive, and contains darling mom-and-pop shops, bakeries, galleries and gift boutiques. The $94.5 million Mesa Arts Center is the city’s crown jewel.
