The park’s thoroughfare, Galvin Parkway, is the prettiest route between Scottsdale resorts and the Phoenix airport, lined as it is by acres of Sonoran Desert flora and sandstone buttes; this vehicular visibility doesn’t overwhelm the tranquility, though. Trails east and west of the parkway vary in width, elevation and length, and are occasionally shared by mountain bikers. Interesting sights include Hunt’s Tomb (a white pyramid), Hole In The Rock (a natural skylight and a great perch to watch the sun set), the Crosscut Canal and Salt River Project utility reservoirs, and mountain goats climbing the cliffs beyond the fence at Phoenix Zoo.
