Heard Museum

However rooted in tradition, the Heard Museum remains relevant in the 21st century. Begun in 1929 with a private collection of American Indian art and artifacts, the Museum now has ample blankets, bracelets, bowls and baskets to fill and continually freshen its main campus in Phoenix and a satellite gallery in north Scottsdale—and it’s still growing. A first-of-its-kind American Indian Veterans National Memorial (pictured) was dedicated on the Phoenix campus in late 2012.
