A Perfect Day in Philadelphia: Lu Ann Cahn's Itinerary

Local journalist, author and cancer survivor Lu Ann Cahn talks what to do and where to go in Philly

We asked eight-time award winning journalist, breast and kidney cancer survivor and author of "I Dare Me," Lu Ann Cahn to take us out on the town in Philadelphia for a day. "One of the great things about Philadelphia whether you're visiting or live here is that there is so much to discover," Cahn said. "I've lived here for 26 years but I didn't know could walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge. I took a glass blowing lesson. I ate at an Ethiopian restaurant. I did it all here in Philly." Follow Cahn's itinerary for a can't-miss breakfast spot, unique used bookstore and where to see the latest in independent film.

Breakfast: Morning at Cafe Le Maude

"I just love Cafe La Maude in Northern Liberties. It's got this eclectic French-Lebanese menu and they serve up an incredible breakfast." 816 N. Fourth St., Phila., 267.318.7869

Noon: Old City

"The Book Trader in Old City is a multi-floor used bookstore. I could spend all day in there. If you're looking for something that you can't find anywhere else, that's probably it." 7 N. Second St., Phila., 215.925.2080

Dinner: Slices at Bufad

"I'd have to go to Bufad, a gourmet pizza joint on Spring Garden Street, for an easy, casual dinner with friends and bring a bottle of wine. I've had to cut myself off from the pizza--it's that good." 1240 Spring Garden St., Phila., 215.238.9311

Late Night: Drinks at R2L

"The views at R2L are beautiful. I'd go for drinks and desserts." 50 S. 16th St, Phila., 215.564.5337
