Don your lederhosen and raise a stein to craft beer during Oktoberfest 2016 at Orlando’s local breweries and biergartens where perfect pours are on tap.
Even though it’s Oktoberfest year-round at the Biergarten Restaurant in the Epcot World Showcase Germany Pavilion, the boisterous beer festival happens to be during Epcot’s annual International Food & Wine Festival. Expect the replica Bavarian village complete with authentic shops and restaurants of to serve genuine German Oktoberfest beers along with bratwurst and schnitzel that pair well with polka and waltzes performed by Oktoberfest musicians.
The host of the largest Oktoberfest in the area is the German American Society of Central Florida. With two Oktoberfests each year, on the first and last Saturdays of October, the beer fests feature a biergarten atmosphere where guests enjoy live German music, real Bavarian beer on tap, authentic German food and performances by the Alpenrose Schuhplattler Dancers.
Downtown’s Orlando Brewing, Florida’s only certified organic brewery, celebrates the season with a signature Oktoberfest brew, commemorative mug, German band and Bavarian food truck. Free tours are offered daily upon request. Cask & Larder in Winter Park taps its small-batch Oktoberfest brew. Crooked Can Brewing Company, tucked inside Winter Garden’s bustling Plant Street Market, celebrates with a three-day festival of beers and brats October 14-16 and offers free tours every Sunday. Ten10 Brewery near Downtown Orlando serves steins and snacks with music by Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra musicians on October 24.
Celebration Town Center toasts its annual Oktoberfest outdoor celebration October 21-22. Watch colorful leaves drop nightly onto Market Street while live music lakeside plays into the evening. Kids love hopping on hayrides and painting their pumpkin jack-o-lanterns. Year round, the Celebration Town Tavern offers 99 beers in bottles and taps on the wall.
For those celebrating Oktoberfest in Orlando’s theme park and resort corridor, Big River Grille & Brewing Works on Disney’s Boardwalk features a working brewpub where award-winning ales and lagers are brewed onsite. Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen and Brewery at JW Marriott Grande Lakes boasts a nano-brewery with a local Cicerone-certified brewmaster producing season beers made from fresh farm ingredients.
