Though many tourists never leave the confines of the theme parks and resorts, they are missing one of Orlando's best attractions: Downtown. Orlando is a bustling region of 2 million people with a thriving downtown popular for dining, shows, art, sports and music. Just this year, Orlando's very-own Major League Soccer team, the Orlando City Lions, will open their own impressive venue downtown. Recently, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts opened to host traveling Broadway shows, world-class musicians and our very own ballet and symphony orchestra. The Amway Center is the home of the NBA's Orlando Magic, and the arena also plays host to the top names on tour from Ed Sheeran to Adriana Grande.
Just a mile west of downtown is Camping World Stadium, formerly the Citrus Bowl, which hosts college and NFL football games, special events and concerts. Most of the action before and after a big event is in Downtown Orlando on Church Street.
So whether you're coming to downtown for a business meeting or for some of the world-class entertainment, you can easily make an evening of it with the many great restaurants and lively bars.
