The highly-anticipated Ghost Town Alive made its summer debut shortly before Memorial Day Weekend at Knott’s Berry Farm. The interactive event allows visitors to step into the past with actors in full character (and costume) helping them along. Guests can be sworn in as citizens of Calico, join in friendly competitions at Town Hall, participate in a live trial and, of course, attend the Calico Hoedown. We had the chance to visit for a hosted media preview of the fun new summer series.
Ghost Town Alive is Back at Knott’s Berry Farm
Ghost Town Alive’s Supervisor Cailin Luneburg is excited about the return. “It is crazy that we have not had a Founders Day here in Calico for two years. It feels like so much longer. But we’re just so happy to have all of our citizens back and new faces of town and all the guests back to being a part of the action.”
Luneburg loves everything that Ghost Town Alive offers but her favorite—” Oh my gosh, I would say it’s the hoedown because I just love seeing everybody coming together at the end of the day. You know, no matter what happened during the day, we all come together to celebrate as long tonight.”
New Entertainment in Calico
One of the new additions to this year’s Ghost Town Alive is “Cameo Kate’s Western Burle-Q Revue.” The show’s Associate Director Karin Bryeans, gave us a look at the story behind the new show. “Miss Cameo Kate, who is our resident songbird of Calico that our guests have come to know and love, she’s been out doing some traveling and brought back an amazing troupe of singers and dancers and musicians and for her brand new show Miss Cameo Kate’s Western Berle-Q Revue inside the world-famous Bird Cage Theatre.”
Bryeans is looking forward to seeing excited guests take in the summer festivities and the new show, “Well, I think summer here at Knott’s, there’s a little something for everybody. It kind of feels like we’re finally home. Calico is alive. The Bird Cage Theatre doors are open. And honestly, this company of performers is absolutely amazing. They are bringing energy to the theater stage and our live band. And this show also culminates in everyone’s favorite can-can that we’ve come to know and love from that. So truly, there is something fun for everyone from beginning to end.”
