Enjoying Disney's Oogie Boogie Bash

If you’re attending the sold-out Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney’s California Adventure Park, we’ve got tips to help you have the best night!

Disney’s California Adventure Park once again hosts the popular Oogie Boogie Bash—it’s so popular that the entire series of special Disneyland After Dark Halloween events are entirely sold out. If you’re fortunate enough to have gotten tickets, you might be wondering what to expect. We recently checked out the event and have a few tips to share to help you make the most of your night!

Don’t be Startled By the Lines

You’re going to see long lines everywhere. Most of them look much worse than they are. The line at the entrance reached halfway across the courtyard; however, we were through the line in under 15 minutes. If you’re looking for a quicker line, avoid the ones with strollers and larger families, as they won’t be able to move quite as quickly through the ticket check.

The lines for the treat trails and Villains Grove also move relatively quickly. The line at Villains Grove can wrap through its land, but because there are no characters or treats, it will move fast. The only lines that really seemed time consuming were for The Sanderson Sisters (featuring Minnie, Daisy and Clarabelle). Shortly after opening, the line was quoted at three and a half hours.

Prioritize Your Time

It’s very possible to do as much as possible from the beginning to the end of the party (6 p.m. to 11 p.m.). You’ll need to decide if your priorities are characters or treats. You can easily hit all of the treat trails in the allotted party time, or you can take photos with the characters; however, you likely can’t do it all. It is entirely possible to fit a combination of shorter character lines and the treat trails—we managed all but one treat trail at least once, a couple of photo ops and several rides.

Enjoy the Rides

Oogie Boogie Bash is a great time to enjoy the almost nonexistent ride lines. The longest “line” was only 20 minutes (for Web Slingers), and the 20 minutes included boarding and the pre-show. Many rides have no line at all, and one member of our party even managed to ride the Incredicoaster five times in about 30 minutes via the single rider line. The park capacity for Disneyland After Dark events is much lower than a typical park day, so even when lines are long for the unique event portions of the night, ride lines can be very short.

Arrive Early

A ticket to Oogie Boogie Bash allows entry into the park beginning at 3 p.m. Don’t worry about buying a ticket for earlier in the day—you’re going to have a long night. We arrived at 3 p.m. and were there until past closing. Utilize the early entry to eat, shop and enjoy photo ops with characters that are not exclusive to the event. You’ll want to have as much time as possible to enjoy the portions of the night that are only for special ticket holders. Consider grabbing a bite at Pym Test Kitchen, catching the show at Avengers Campus and grabbing your photos with the Marvel characters in the land, or head over to Cars Land and get photos before it gets dark. There are plenty of Halloween-Time foods to enjoy throughout the park that are exclusive for the season, so don’t forget to check them out!

Pick a Great Parade Spot

The parade route can get pretty busy, especially for the 7 p.m. parade. If you can stick it out for the 10 p.m. parade, try to grab a spot close to the very start of the parade route by Pixar Pier. We arrived shortly after the parade began and snagged a fantastic spot by Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta. If you catch the parade right at the start of the route, you’ll also have more time to enjoy the trails and photo ops while other guests are still waiting for the parade to get to their portion of the park.
