Touring NYC for a Good Cause

Take a tour of insider New York City while also helping out a charitable organization

How’s this for a cool way to see New York City? Local Expeditions creates tours for visitors, specifically highlighting what New Yorkers do and where they like to go, often focusing on Brooklyn (which, for some time now has become the “it” borough).

Two tours currently available are the Photographing Coney Island Tour (Sat. Oct. 10 & 17, both at 2 p.m.), led by a native New Yorker who teaches at the International Center of Photography; and the Citi Bike DUMBO Tour (Sat. and Sun., Oct. 17 & 18, and Sat. and Sun., Oct. 24 & 25, all at 11 a.m.), led by Local Expeditions founder Nancy Blaine. The DUMBO tour uses Citi Bikes to get around the area: all participants are asked not to bring plastic water bottles or other non-sustainable products.

All expeditions run for 2-3 hours and include a maximum of 10 people and a refreshment. Tours are $40 per person.

And here’s the best news: All tours give back to the community with a five percent donation er event, chosen by the guides.
