Family-Friendly Easter Weekend Activities in NYC

Easter in New York City is a great time of year for families with kids because there are so many things to do! From egg hunts to parade watching, here are some of the best family-friendly events going on in NYC over Easter weekend.

Saturday, April 15

Barnyard Egg Hunt at the Queens County Farm Museum (Glen Oaks, Queens): Advanced tickets are required to participate in the egg hunt happening at the Museum’s orchard—and don’t forget to bring a basket! Get a photo taken with Whiskers the Bunny, take part in egg tosses and egg rolling games, face painting, crafts, in addition to a hayride and the chance to visit with farm animals. Food vendors, pony rides and the petting zoo are not covered in the ticket price, so make sure you have cash on hand! 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, 718.347-3276

Trinity Grace Church East Village Easter Egg Hunt (East Village): This non-denominational church is welcoming all to join in on the fun for a morning of face painting, games and two Easter egg hunts (10:30 & 11:10 am) at Tompkins Square Park. McGolrick Egg Hunt (Greenpoint, Brooklyn): Join in on the fun for McGolrick Park’s sixth annual egg hunt. The event is free, but you need to bring a basket in addition to providing bring 10 filled plastic eggs per child in order for them to participate. You can purchase eggs to pick up at the event here, but there will not be eggs available for purchase at the event itself. There will be photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny in addition to arts and crafts plus music from live bands and DJs. Nassau Ave., between Monitor & Russell Sts., 347.559.1410

Think ’N’ Fun’s Annual Egg Hunt (Harlem): Think ’N’ Fun is an event-planning company run by two women who focus on putting on family-friendly activities and classes. Pre-register your little one(s) for one of five waves of Easter egg hunting where kids of all ages can search for eggs, enjoy light snacks and beverages, get their hand or cheek festively painted or decorated, in addition to getting their photo taken with the Easter Bunny. Think 'N' Fun's Annual Egg Hunt in New York City

Sunday, April 16

Easter Parade  (Midtown): Channel Irving Berlin’s classic lyrics “In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.” Ladies and gentlemen can don their finest Easter headwear and participate in NYC’s famed Easter Parade, which heads north on Fifth Avenue from 49th St. to 57th St. The parade starts at 10 am and lasts until 4 pm. It’s free to watch and free to participate in, should you want to strut your stuff in your own Easter bonnet.

Easter Funday Kids Cruise with Empire Cruises (Kips Bay): Make Easter Sunday a fun day on this kid-oriented cruise! Party with the Easter Bunny during an on-board egg hunt and enjoy balloon animals, face painting, treats and more as the boat takes guests on a scenic trip by the Statue of Liberty. There will be a live DJ and a cash bar with beverages and cocktails for the adults. Board at Skyport Marina at 2 pm for a 2:30 pm departure. Tisch Children’s Zoo at the Central Park Zoo (Central Park/Upper East Side): Potbellied pigs, Nubian goats and the Patagonian cavy—an adorable large rodent the size of a small dog—are just some of the critters found in the Tisch Children’s Zoo. Kids can crawl, jump and climb about certain exhibits in this extra family-friendly section of the Central Park Zoo. Scully & Scully (Upper East Side): This upscale home furnishing store is the perfect place to pick up an Easter keepsake to commemorate spending the holiday in NYC! New for this year is the Halcyon Days 2017 Easter Egg, a handmade egg from England with 24-karat gold-plated fittings.
