Summer is here finally! The time has come to get together with other fully-vaccinated friends and raise a glass to being together once again. But, it wouldn't be a complete squad gathering without your furry best friend. These Long Island City and Sunnyside breweries are dog-friendly and are fantastic places to visit with friends of the human and canine variety.
Fifth Hammer Brewing
Fifth Hammer Brewing is now open for indoor seating and welcomes four-legged friends. The large warehouse space has plenty of seating and floor space for you and your dog to hang out, have a pint (or water bowl) and play board games with friends. The tap list is full of a variety of beers brewed onsite with a pint for every palate. Try the "Hoptones," a 7% hazy IPA, one of three fruited sours, or the lighter "Pocket Disco," which is a 6.4% American wheat with citrus. Check the Fifth Hammer website for the calendar of food trucks and pop-up kitchens. Don't forget to slip your furry friend a bite under the table.
Rockaway Brewing Company
Take your pup for a stroll through Gantry Park (there's also a dog park with a section specifically for small dogs) before meandering back up Fifth Street to Rockaway Brewing Company. There are approximately eight beers and ciders on tap at any time, which are available in pints or 32-ounce growlers. So relax with a cold one and give your four-legged friend a good scratch behind the ears. Four and six-packs are available for at-home consumption if you and the pup need couch snuggles.
There is ample outdoor seating for you and your best four-legged friend at Alewife Brewing. The featured tap list is constantly rotating, so you'll always find something new to wet your whistle. Alewife is well known for its artistic labels with wild designs and eye-catching colors. Unfortunately, your dog won't appreciate the brightly-colored cans since it's all shades of grey to the good boys and girls.
Big aLICe Brewing
Put your pooch in their favorite collar and head over to Big aLICe Brewing for fresh suds and a dog-friendly hangout. The 43rd Street taproom is open seven days a week and is currently operating on a first-come-first-served basis for seating. This summer, sit back with a lemongrass kölsch, jalapeño rye or a raspberry-honey wit. Several of the draft beers are available in single cans or four-packs for on-the-go dog walkers.
Childhood friends came together to open a brewery, taproom, and beer garden mere blocks from where they grew up. ICONYC Brewing's beer garden on LIC's 12th Street Pedestrian Plaza is the ultimate place to bring your pup to enjoy fresh beer and good vibes. Sip on pilsners, blonde ales, sours, sessions and New England-style IPAs, all with your furry bestie beside you. You can even bring in your own food or order delivery (the taco truck has yet to resume operation). Make sure you remember to order a little something for your dog or prepare to resist those puppy eyes.
