10 Great Sports Bars on the Jersey Shore

Summertime or wintertime, these local bars are hopping with lively crowds, great music and drink specials.

The Jersey Shore has 127 miles of scenic beachfront is attracting crowds who come to enjoy getting outdoors to take in some Jersey Shore vibes with good high energy music, alcoholic drinks and typical Jersey Shore food.

Bars in the Jersey Shore have everything from live entertainment to great American gastropub fare. In the summer, the population grows and so do the crowds. So with that said, we’ve compiled a list of the best local bars that most exemplify that feeling of being at the Jersey Shore.


Leggett's: This longtime sports pub, a Manasquan institution since 1937, Leggett’s is an inexpensive, no-frills watering hole that’s a stone’s throw from the ocean. Open year-round, it draws a mixed-age local crowd. At the back of the huge bar area are marks on the walls where the water came up to from Hurricane Sandy, but no superstorm was able to keep this bar down: hugely popular during Football Sundays in the fall, with some 15 high def flat screens showing all the games: dart and shuffleboard leagues; an outdoor patio with live music in the summer months and indoor live bands and great music mixes on summer weekends keep this place hopping with Millennials.

The Osprey Nightclub: Next door to Leggett’s is The Osprey Nightclub a beachfront nightclub/sports bar with a live band and DJ every night. Osprey opens up the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day and is only open Friday-Sunday. The extremely popular bar offers affordable drink specials and a low cover ($10). There’s huge dance floor as well as a live band room and DJ room to party in. Usually lines wind around the block to get in after 10:30 pm so arrive early.


D'Jais: Since 1959, D'Jais in Belmar is one of the Jersey shore's most talked about venues. D'Jais is the perfect place to cool off after a hot day at the beach or for a hot night on the town. D'Jais Features a world famous bar and restaurant with a full lunch & dinner menu, with outdoor ocean view seating. At Night, D'Jais is well known for its diverse atmosphere in which different music can be heard seven nights a week.

Paul's Tavern: Paul’s Tavern has been owned and operated by the Heaney family since 1979. This is a great place for having casual drinks and food, watching a game, celebrating any kind of party, or hosting alumni benefits and fundraisers. Established as a small Irish Pub Paul’s Tavern has reinvented itself and thrived not only as the largest indoor bar in Lake Como, but one of the largest bars at the Jersey Shore offering a small bar menu and live music to customers 365 days a year.

Asbury Park

Watermark: Hovering above the famous Asbury Park Boardwalk and commanding sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Watermark occupies 8,000 square feet of interior/exterior space on the second floor of the First Avenue Pavilion. Surrounded by important historic Asbury Park landmarks including the Casino, the Carousel, the Power Station, the Empress Hotel and the Stone Pony.

Brickwall Tavern & Dining Room: At Brickwall Tavern & Dining Room the portions are huge, so come hungry. There’s 24 beers on tap at all times, so come thirsty too. The menu offers po' boys with a side of sweet potato fries, as well as a black bean burger topped with avocado, corn relish, and frizzled onions and served with tater tots. With trivia nights, food and drink specials this is a very affordable hang out spot with live music throughout the week.

Point Pleasant

Wharfside Patio and Bar Restaurant: Wharfside Patio Bar and Restaurant is tucked behind the Wharfside Restaurant on Channel Drive in Pt. Pleasant Beach. A long time haunt of locals, Just step away from the boardwalk crowds, the Patio Bar offers a casual grille, raw bar and cocktails overlooking the tranquil Manasquan River and Inlet Islands. At night, the Patio Bar turns tropical with warm sea breezes, seaside sunsets and the summer sounds of the Jersey Shore's most popular bands.
