Munich’s most photographed sight is this magnificent Renaissance palace, the seat of Bavaria’s rulers, the Wittelsbachs, until 1918. Walk past the four giant bronze statues of lions to enter, where a total of 130 rooms are filled with art, period furnishings and decorations, including the ancestral portrait gallery and the extravagant royal apartments. Apr-mid Oct daily 9am-6pm; mid Oct-Mar daily 10am-5pm. Adult €7 (€11 with Treasury); child  €6 (€9).
