Mont Blanc's Iconic Cable Cars Are Back in Action

This sky-high attraction is operational after a nine-month absence.

A cable car that reaches high into the French Alps is back up and running after a nine-month hiatus.

The Mont Blanc Panoramic Cable Car connects Chamonix, France, to Aiguilles du Midi in the shadow of the world's largest Alp, Mont Blanc. This spectacular ride crests mountains and glaciers rising 12,400 feet. Reach Aiguille du Midi and then take a lift for the final 200 feet up for an amazing view from the mountain.

At the very top, walk around Aiguille du Midi's terraces for 360-degree views of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. While there, the daring can venture out on a glass-encased skywalk over a 3,300-foot drop. A tramway connects Aiguille du Midi with the Italian Alps three miles away at Pointe Helbronner.
