Miami for Art Lovers

Travelers have been admiring the artistic haven of the Wynwood Walls since its inception. But the vibrant arts scene extends beyond Miami's trendy Wynwood neighborhood. Throughout Greater Miami and the beaches you'll find awe-inspiring architecture, great collections and must-see displays that celebrates our unique culture.

The Perez Art Museum Miami, the Rubell Family Collection and the Margulies Warehouse are just a few of the art attractions the city has to offer. You'll also find fun, free events such as the Wynwood Art Walk which are making art accessible to the public by creating block party atmospheres. And if you happen to be traveling to Miami and passing through Miami International Airport, take time to view the more than 35 art projects that fill the walls, ceilings and other peculiar places in terminals, walkways and the concessions.

Here are select venues—both large and small—where you can immerse yourself in the arts in the city.

Art Basel Miami Beach

More than 2,000 artists represented by more than 250 galleries from all across the world come together at this show, usually scheduled the first week of December, the most important contemporary art showcase in the Americas.

Pérez Art Museum Miami

Learn something new and explore with the whole family at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, where you'll be sure to discover something extraordinary. With frequently changing exhibits and amazing works of art, PAMM also offers a one-of-a-kind restaurant overlooking Biscayne Bay, Verde. Closed on Wednesdays.

Rubell Family Collection

Soon after they married in 1964, Don and Mera Rubell began assembling one of the world’s finest contemporary art collections. Their holdings have been on display to the public since 1996.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the Miami estate of agricultural industrialist James Deering. Opened in 1916, this magnificent museum is an example of when the nation’s most successful entrepreneurs built lavish estates inspired by the stately homes of Europe.

Wynwood Art District

Since 2009, the Wynwood Art District has been transforming a former warehouse district into a work of beautiful local art. The neighborhood is now home to more than 70 art galleries, retail stores and bars, and features one of the world's largest open-air street-art installations.

The Wolfsonian-FIU

Located in South Beach’s Art Deco District, The Wolfsonian-FIU showcases American and European decorative and fine arts produced between 1885 and 1945.

The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse

Housed in a large warehouse, the Margulies Collection is an extensive collection of contemporary and vintage photography, video, sculpture and installations from the holdings of prominent Miami collector Martin Z. Margulies. Open October-April. Tu-Sa 11 am-4 pm, with extended hours during Art Basel/Miami Art Week.

The Bass

The Bass presents exhibitions of international contemporary art from mid-career and established artists reflecting the spirit and international character of Miami Beach. A new gallery features the museum's permanent collection which includes Renaissance and Baroque paintings, sculptures and textiles.

Miami International Airport

Miami International Airport (MIA) is known as America's second-busiest airport for international passengers, welcoming 70 percent of all international visitors to Florida. It offers more flights to Latin America and the Caribbean than any other U.S. airport with a lineup of 100 air carriers. MIA is also the top U.S.

Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU

A unique destination for every age and background, the museum is housed in two restored synagogues, both on the National Register of Historic Places. One has Art Deco features and 80 stained-glass windows. The core exhibit, "MOSAIC," depicts nearly 250 years of Jewish life in Florida. The museum is open Tu-Su 10 am-5 pm.

Oolite Arts

Founded by sculptor Ellie Schneiderman in 1984, Oolite Arts is credited as being an important catalyst for the revitalization of Lincoln Road and its surrounding areas.

Gary Nader Art Centre

Gary Nader Art Centre is well-known for featuring Latin American, modern and contemporary art, including Latin American masters’ paintings, sculptures and drawings.

World Erotic Art Museum

Find the world's greatest collection of erotic art, including sculptures, paintings, artifacts, jewelry and much more from the four corners of the world. The WEAM collection includes more than 4000 works of international art, ranging from 300 BCE to the immediate present.

Wynwood Art Walk

Held on the second Saturday of each month, the Wynwood Art Walk guides art aficionados into the heart of the Wynwood Art District to galleries featuring local artists and to the local murals that cover this former warehouse district.
