Getaway: Brickell and Downtown Miami

Whether you're feeling artistic or like partying all night, these trendy areas have many things to take advantage of.

Known as the epicenter of the city, the Downtown Miami and Brickell areas in Miami offer a sophisticated getaway option for the traveler seeking dining, entertainment and nightlife. Below are my top three tips for enjoying these areas and making the best of your visit, from day to night.

#1 Stay Local

15th and Vine

Located in the heart of Brickell is The Viceroy (rebranded to W Miami in 2016), an artistic Arquitectonica-designed hotel with breathtaking views of Downtown Miami. Lounge by the pool and grab a salad and rose wine at the poolside restaurant known as Café Icon, enjoy fresh dishes for dinner at 15th and Vine, indulge on a spa treatment at the Philippe Starck-designed spa or even dance the night away at FIFTY Ultra lounge, a spot that lights up at night on the 50th floor of the property. Here, it is important to have a camera at all times, for you can spot breathtaking views of Miami from your room, the pool and everywhere you turn. The property is also walking distance from a variety of bars and restaurants and close to transportation options if you feel like exploring.

#2 Get Cultured

PAMM

Located in Downtown Miami is the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. There, a variety of Broadway shows, as well as musical and comedic performances will keep you entertained. Make sure to check out the website when planning your trip and catch a show at this breathtaking venue. Right in the heart of Downtown Miami is the Pérez Art Museum Miami, featuring modern and contemporary art plus breathtaking views. Make sure to grab brunch at the museum’s own restaurant, Verde, where the ceviche is one of the city’s best kept secrets as well as their selection of pizzas. Sit outside and catch the breeze coming from the adjacent bay.

#3 Spend the Night

Skinny mango martini

Brickell lights up at night, with a variety of nightlife options. Head on over to Mary Brickell Village, where Blue Martini invites revelers to dance the night away with a signature martini on hand and RedBar Gallery offers beer and cocktail specials, with art decorating the cozy bar walls.  If you’re feeling like lounging and dancing the night away, head on over to Spazio Nightclub, located inside Segafredo Brickell, where VIP service, hip DJs and dancing until your feet hurt are the norm.
