Set on 22 hectares close to the heart of the city, the Melbourne Zoo has more than 320 wildlife species from Australia and around the world. The Australian Bush exhibit showcases Australia's wildlife. The Orang-utan Sanctuary takes visitors up to the treetops level where these acrobatic great apes can display their climbing skills. The award-winning Trail of the Elephants explores the world of Asian elephants. Then there are the tropical treasures of the Butterfly House. Here you can share the habitat of hundreds of butterflies native to northern Australia. There are free guided tours between 10am-3pm.
