Shrine of Remembrance
Sunday afternoons at Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance now have an added poignancy with the introduction of the weekly Last Post Service at 4.45pm. People exploring this beautiful monument can conclude their visit by joining this ceremony, which honours Victorian veterans. Each week reflects on service in a different conflict zone. You are invited to watch as a veteran lays a wreath and recites “The Ode” followed by the lowering of the Australian flag. The service features the Shrine Guard, a bugler and a piper. After the service you are welcome to lay your own floral tributes at the Flame of Remembrance. The Last Post Service is supported by the Victorian Government.
