For a relatively easy hike that boasts spectacular views, this two-mile (round trip) hike is kid-friendly and paved, except at the very top. The hike starts with a short and mildly steep first leg, which reveals vistas of Koko Head and Koko Crater. This segment can be hot, but as soon as you reach the turnaround, you will be greeted with a refreshing breeze. Following the trail to the whale lookout, you can read about our winter visitors, and may be able to spot them in season (October-April). Nearing the summit, stop at the overlook for views of Goat Island, Rabbit Island and Windward Oahu, from Sea Life Park to Kaneohe. On the clearest of days, you can see Molokai and even Maui. A short jaunt further up leads to the lookout perched above Makapu‘u Lighthouse.
