See Las Vegas from a Concierge's Point of View

Find out where to eat, drink and play in Las Vegas

Ashley Brown, a concierge supervisor at New York-New York, shares some of her top picks for Las Vegas visitors and locals alike.

Tell me about your favorite hidden gem in Las Vegas.

Carson Kitchen, by Downtown Container Park. They have small plates, gourmet burgers and a rooftop patio with live music.

Where should I eat if I want to celebrate a special occasion? How hard is it to get a reservation while I’m in Las Vegas?

Gallagher’s Steakhouse at New York-New York. They serve the finest dry-aged beef and seafood. It’s a classic style steakhouse, the staff is inviting and serves savory dishes. As a concierge we know how important each request is to our guests, we do the best we can to make it happen.

What’s the most unusual request you’ve had as a concierge? What about the craziest request?

The one request that stands out is I received a call from a guy wanted to have a scavenger hunt to propose to his fiancé. After coming up with some fun ideas (and some that were a little unusual); I confirmed with the front desk to reserve a room, the restaurant hostesses (and some waiters), to keep the hunt going and have a limo pick them up and take them on a private ride to the Las Vegas sign to propose. I remember her saying she knew she wanted to marry him and often wondered how he would propose, she never expected something like this! The best part was it wasn’t just a moment it was an entire evening of excitement.

Yellowtail restaurant

Who is your favorite Las Vegas celebrity chef? Why?

Akira Back! His creations are so delicious and beautiful. At Yellowtail restaurant inside the Bellagio, the bigeye tuna pizza is a must to order! What intrigued me the most to order it was the name.

Where do you like to send guests to brunch?

Tom’s Urban MOST-OF-THE-DAY-BRUNCH at New York-New York has a wide selection of unique items, & yummy drinks to re-energize you! I recommend the Napolean Down Mexican Way Omelet.

I want to experience classic Las Vegas. Where do you recommend that I go?

Dining at a unique restaurant, chilling by the pool and relaxing with spa treatments, taking a city tour (helicopter or ground), entertainment with a show or nightlife.

Where do you like to do some people-watching in Las Vegas?

Anywhere! In my off time when I am downtown enjoying drinks on a patio. I enjoy seeing how people express their style while having a great time.

Zumanity performers

What’s the must-see show in Las Vegas right now?

A Cirque du Soleil production show. They have such a variety of themes, you will not be disappointed with the spectacular shows they put on each night. The attention to detail on the costumes, stage and theatres are truly unique. Zumanity is unique for the guests who want to be wowed by seduction (it is Las Vegas after all!) and creativity from Cirque du Soleil.

How about nightlife? I want to hang out with friends but avoid the nightclubs. Where should I go?

Hyde at Bellagio is the perfect spot to enjoy indoor and outdoor nightlife with a terrace overlooking the fountains and Las Vegas Boulevard. Bar at Times Square at New York-New York is a great location to enjoy music and dancing with the best dueling piano show in Las Vegas.
