Performer’sPerformer’s Guide to Las Vegas: Janae Longo of “Legends in Concert”
WT- What brought you to Las Vegas?
Longo: I have been performing professionally for over 20 years in the theater industry. While working in regional theater for a short time on the East Coast, I moved to Nashville, TN, for three years to pursue my love of country music. But a chance encounter to sail the Seven Seas for one contract led me to 14 years with a certain company.
My time with Carnival Cruise Lines took me to places I would never usually see and introduced me to people and experiences one would only dream of. Proud Mainstage Entertainer—I was looking for more and was promoted to Cruise Director. Unfortunately, the Pandemic shut us down, and I was sent back home to Buffalo, NY.
While my heart will always love my hometown, I shuffled off to Chicago and found myself learning the TV and Film industry, casting extras and learning the ins and outs with the incomparable 4 Star Casting. While I loved my time in Chicago, my heart and land legs brought me back to singing. I rolled the dice and took a chance on the great city of Las Vegas.
WT- Where are you from, and how long have you lived in Las Vegas?
Longo: I’m from Buffalo, New York, and I moved here in October, so seven months.
WT- What do you love best about Las Vegas?
Longo: The joy of singing again and the community of entertainers. I’m humbled to be surrounded by awesome artists that keep pushing the limits of creativity and art.
WT- What is your favorite way to spend an evening/afternoon if you’re going to the Strip?
Longo: Seeing one of the plethoras of options of shows—from musical theater, drama, comedy, cirque, drag and burlesque to Grammy Award-winning artists. This city is unsurpassed with talent from every which way. We are coming at you from 360 degrees, and we have it all for you.
WT- If someone asks you for dinner recommendations in Las Vegas, what do you suggest?
Longo: Mayfair, Capo’s, Superfrico or Nobu, but if you’re still hungry, The Peppermill. If you know, you know. It’s legendary. :)
WT- Where are some of your favorite places to go and things to do in Las Vegas on your day off?
Longo: If it’s NFL on Sundays, I’m watching Joshie (Josh Allen) and The Buffalo Bills at Moondoggies on Arville—You can take the girl out of Buffalo, but you can’t take the Buffalo out of the girl!! Love Marche Bacchus or Siegels Bagelmania for a lovely brunch- Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, a long drive to the desert for recharging!
