Las Vegas Restaurants: The Best BBQ Joints in Town

Las Vegas is home to some great BBQ!

With the temperatures slowly dropping, it's gotten way more comfortable to dine alfresco and lucky for us, BBQ is extra delicious when enjoyed outdoors. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or looking for something to bring to a small gathering, these BBQ joints have you covered.

Jessie Rae’s BBQ

I was recently invited to check out the BBQ fare at Jessie Rae’s BBQ- a favorite among locals all over town. Located off Valley View, it’s only a few minutes away from the Strip. With a great assortment of sandwiches, meats by the pound (or the half pound), combos, and lots of ribs, there’s something for every type of meat lover. If it’s your cheat day, make sure to check out their loaded section with specials like the Maniac Fries that come loaded with mac and cheese, hot links, and meat (I had them with the waffle fries).

Project BBQ

Located inside Circa Resort & Casino in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, Project BBQ brings Carolina BBQ and a quirky “outdoor” space with their BBQ food truck. In addition to combos and individual menu items, you’ll find some impressive feasts designed for sharing, like the “Hogstravaganza” and a variety of “Hundred Dollar Platters” that feed eight people.

Bell’s BBQ

This Henderson spot has something for everyone, including a gluten-free menu, so no one in your party needs to miss out on the BBQ goodness. With a variety of BBQ tastes and staples (meats by the pound, ribs, etc.), you’re sure to find something for everyone in your group at Bell’s BBQ. The menu also contains plenty of non-BBQ options like chicken and waffles along with various Southern sides (southern greens, okra, and black-eyed peas are just a sampling of their 20 different sides). Don’t forget to check out their sweet jar desserts!

Ellis Island BBQ

Located inside Ellis Island Casino, Hotel, & Brewery, this BBQ spot is 21 and over only (you’ll need to leave the kids at home). Though the menu is a bit smaller than other BBQ joints in town, discounts are readily available with coupons and player’s card memberships. You can also enjoy the house-made brews for which Ellis Island is famous (they’re award-winning).

Sin City Smokers

Located just north of Green Valley, Sin City Smokers opened nearly five years ago after accumulating an impressive collection of awards for their BBQ and catering. The business is family-owned and operated with a fantastic menu of Southern staples and local favorites. Make sure to check their menu before you go- specials rotate daily. Are you looking for a great souvenir from your trip? Pick up one of their bottles of sauce.

Virgil’s Real BBQ

You don’t have to leave the Strip to find great BBQ. Virgil’s Real BBQ located at the Linq Promenade serves up traditional BBQ favorites along with some twisted, modern takes like their craveable Trainwreck Fries or the Trash Nachos. From Friday through Sunday, Virgil’s also serves up a fantastic BBQ breakfast with menu items like their brisket egg sandwich and their delicious breakfast burritos.

John Mull’s Meats & Road Kill Grill

Don’t let the name fool you- the BBQ here is outstanding (they’ve been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network). This no-frills spot at the Northwest side of town provides ready-to-eat BBQ staples alongside their meat market. Find Southern favorites at Road Kill Grill along with more exotic meats from the market section and enjoy the warm weather with their outdoor seating.

Big B’s Texas BBQ

Are you hoping to wow your friends and family at the next potluck? Big B’s Texas BBQ has plates and family-style options of all sizes so you can feed any size crowd. In the mood for something a little lighter? Try out one of their po-boys or salads. Big B’s Texas BBQ has two locations in Las Vegas- one near Silverado Ranch and one in Spring Valley, so you can get your BBQ fix on either side of town.

Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que

Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que inside Treasure Island Las Vegas is a great place to spend an evening. Even though its dance floor and live shows are what Gilley’s is most known for, the BBQ section of the venue provides delicious, casual Southern eats like their Texas nachos grande or their Southern fried chicken. Live music from local artists provides a lively atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights, and locals get 20% off their meal with local ID. Check the website for updates on when their dance floor and mechanical bull re-open to truly round out your evening.
