One of the most postcard-perfect scenic spots on Kauai’s north shore, this viewpoint on Highway 56 overlooks dramatic green mountains and a colorful patchwork of taro fields, which have been cultivated here by Native Hawaiians for centuries. A majority of the poi that is produced and sold in Hawaii comes from Hanalei Valley. 900 acres within this valley is a protected wildlife refuge, where several species of native birds thrive.
