Ritz Theatre and Museum

Known as the “Harlem of the South,” LaVilla was the center of cultural life from 1921 to 1971. Performers would play the Ritz before heading north to the Apollo Theater. Today, the theater showcases art, music, drama, poetry and African-American history in a variety of special events and live shows. Admission to the adjoining museum is $8 adults, $5 for students and seniors and is open Tu-F 10 am-4 pm.
