Hungarian Haunts

While most Magyars don’t believe in ghosts and goblins, the spellbinding allure of Halloween parties increasingly possesses Budapest night owls as more cobweb-coated clubs catch the spirit every year. Scary shindigs include a Hibernian masquerade on Oct. 30 at the Guinness House, and on the same night Symbol hosts a posh monster bash featuring DJs, gambling and massages. But the country’s creepiest fete takes place in the forested hills toward Transylvania at the Mansion Hotel Sasvár, an isolated castle welcoming guests to a spooky Halloween celebration spanning Oct. 29-30.
