Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island

Founded and directed by Louise Miller Cohen, the Gullah Museum began with “The Little House,” built in 1930 and recently restored. The Gullah Museum is in the process of purchasing and restoring several other homes near “The Little House” in order to teach the surrounding communities about the rich Gullah and Geechie heritage of the Hilton Head area. The museum holds several regular events, including oyster roasts and an annual Night at the Juke Joint.
