Laupahoehoe Train Museum

This small museum shares the story of the old Hilo Railroad, which was originally built to haul sugar from the Hamakua Coast and became the most ambitious rail project in all of Hawaii (and at one time was the most expensive railway ever built). Set in the old station agent’s home, see memorabilia from the early 1900s as well one of the train’s old engines that runs on a short track. Open Monday - Friday, 9 am - 4:30 pm; Saturday - Sunday, 10 am - 2 pm. $3 adults, $2 children and seniors.
