Each year culinary professionals around the world travel from country to country in search of the Worlds 50 Best Restaurants. Achieving this title is no small feat—the latter half of the top 100 best restaurants of 2018 include the award-winning restaurant Per Se in New York City and the celebrated St. John restaurant located in London. The question still remains: what is 2018's best restaurant in the world?
This is the second time Osteria Francescana claims the title "The Worlds Best Restaurant." The restaurant is based in Modena, Italy, and chef Massimo Bottura is no stranger to culinary awards. The restaurant was the first Italian restaurant to win the award and it claimed a spot on the Worlds 50 Best Restaurants list each year from 2013-2017.
Those fortunate enough to dine at Osteria Francescana are treated to a contemporary Italian menu and wine pairings in a space heavily influenced by art and jazz music, favorites of Bottura. Must-try menu items include the "Five Ages of Parmigiano Reggiano" and the "Mediterranean Sole"—the official standout dish.
Can't make it to Modena any time soon? Massimo Bottura is featured in the first episode of Netflix's Chef's Table series.
