In the mid- to late-19th century, more than 4 million head of cattle were driven through the Fort Worth Stockyards on their way up to the railheads in Kansas, earning Fort Worth the nickname “Cowtown.”
Today, the Stockyards—once a place for cowboys, cattlemen, bartenders and horse traders—is a one-of-a-kind location with many exciting attractions for the whole family, such as the daily cattle drive on Exchange Avenue. The area is full of unique shopping and dining experiences. Sink your teeth into Riscky’s Barbecue. Finally, don’t miss bull-riding, tie-down roping and barrel racing at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo.
